There is an overwhelming need for the working class and poor to be represented fully and effectively, at the moment and since before ‘new labour’ and Blair’s war crimes the Labour Party has been captured by the pifalls of parliamentary democracy. Ed Miliband has been an enormous disappointment failing to both express an alternative to austerity and to collude with the Tories over the new ‘common sense’ that everyone must share the pain of the crisis…A new party may not immediately capture votes for a moribund parliament of (mostly) grey men but it can assemble a coherent alternative to finance capital rules ok, ok?

We had a good planning meeting for Left Unity in Leeds tonight, over 20 people came and not just the same old people. Much to be done, but we have a meeting with Alan Gibbons speaking at the Rose Bowl, Leeds Metropolitan University, on May 22nd.

When you can, please post the time and place for the meeting on 22nd May – and the full address for people who don’t know the bizarre geography of Leeds Met University
