celebratory funeral event for Dr Nelson Mandela starting on Saturday 14th
December at 2pm with a ‘Walk of Respect’ from the Mandela Gardens in
Millennium Square, LS1 to the Mandela Community Centre, Chapeltown Road,
LS1. The general public is invited to join us as we honour Dr Mandela’s

end with light refreshments at Mandela Community Centre.

Please wear white or African attire to pay tribute and celebrate Nelson
Mandela.
From 4.00-6.30pm at Mandela Community Centre the programme includes
poetry, dance, music, open-mic sessions and big-screen documentaries,
including Dr Mandela’s visit to Leeds in 2001.
There will be a traditional ‘Wake Keeping’ from 7pm at Leeds West Indian
Centre, 10 Laycock Place, LS7. Members of the public are invited to bring
food and drink to add to a prepared buffet.
