PEACE AND JUSTICE IN THE WEST BANK;
A TALK AT SHINE, Harehills Road:
MARCH 19TH. 7.30.
by TRICIA GRIFFIN.
The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel brings people
from various countries to the West Bank to experience life under occupation.
Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) provide protective presence to vulnerable
communities; they monitor and report human rights abuses and they support
Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace.
When they return home EAs campaign for a just and peaceful resolution to the
Israeli/Palestinian conflict through an end to occupation, respect for
international law and implementation of UN resolutions. In the UK the
Programme is co-ordinated by the Quakers. You can find out more at
Tricia Griffin went to the West Bank and worked as an EA from November 2012 to
February 2013. Tricia will give a talk about what she saw and learned from her
time there on March 19th at SHINE, Harehills Road at 7.30. The event will finish at 9.00pm.
The intention is to inform and to encourage discussion on the achievement of
peace and justice in the Middle East. We are inviting people who we
believe will be interested to engage in that discussion to attend; people
who are ready to listen to and to respect the views of others. If you are
interested do please come. You can find directions on the SHINE website at
If you have any questions about the event please email Tricia Griffin or Alan Wallace – details below.
The talk and discussion will be chaired by Cllr Roger Harington, Labour
councillor for Harehills and Gipton.
