Taking Soundings is working with the team at Leeds for Change to create another in the successful Summat series where progressive people, new and old, gather for a day of discussion, education and skills development. This event will also see the launch of the Leeds for Change hub website, currently running in its beta version.
Leeds for Change has just issued this call to anyone, or any group, who shares our aims to present a workshop at the Summat, on 8th November 2014, at Leeds University Union building.
We would encourage everyone in and around Leeds, UK, to subscribe to Leeds for Change as an individual, and to ask any Leeds-based organisations of which they are members to subscribe, if they share the goals of this website.

Leeds for Change Presents… Summat New!
Workshop Call Out
We are now seeking workshops for Leeds for Change’s day long launch event on 8th November 2014. The deadline for proposals is 10am Monday 8th September.
We welcome proposals that are aimed at a diverse audience of young people and adults from across the city – creative and fun, engaging and inspiring, challenging yet accessible.
We’d like the workshops to come under one or more of the following headings which reflect our aims of the day:
Access – Information and introduction sessions, giving the opportunity to learn about and discuss issues, ideas and campaigns. (e.g. Sexual violence: busting myths and promoting awareness or What’s happening in Syria and what can I do?)
Practical – Making, crafting and building activities. (For example, how to build a bike powered generator, or puppet-making for a striking campaign stunt)
All workshops will be 50 minutes long and will take place between 11am and 4pm on 8th November at Leeds University Union.
This event follows on from two Leeds Summat(s), in 2009 and 2011, last time attracting over 1300 people, 35 workshops and 70 stalls. Now the event is hosted by Leeds for Change in collaboration with the Economic Justice Project.
What is Leeds for Change?
The project has been started as a collaboration between Leeds Tidal, Together for Peace and Taking Soundings. We have made a website to help meet these aims which can join as an individual and a group [ www.leedsforchange.org.uk ]
